Marie Lucille Casparis, age 97, was called from this life on May 2, 2015. She was born in Johnson City, Texas on August 18, 1917 to John S. Casparis and Ella Smith Casparis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers- Johnny Brooks Casparis and Charles "Ted" Casparis; sisters- Madeline Casparis and Rebecca C. Sansom; sister-in-law, Patty Casparis Hull; brother-in-law, George F. Sansom; and nephew, John Wesley Sansom. She is survived by three nephews and their wives, George "Cass"Sansom and wife Debbie; Patrick King Sansom and wife, Terry; and Tom Leezer and wife, Sara; two grandnieces, Rebecca Sansom Cook and her husband, William Cook and their children, Katherine, Lauren, and Daniel as well as Susan Kinzie and her children; and four grandnephews- Robert Casparis Sansom, Travis King Sansom and wife Ashley, Justin Keith Sansom, and Tommy Leezer.
Marie graduated from Johnson City High School in 1931. After graduating from high school, she entered Draughens Business College where she majored in Business Administration. Marie worked as a bookkeeper for George C. Vaughn and Sons in San Antonio, TX for over 40 years and was an active member of the American Business Woman (ABW) throughout her career. She enjoyed a full life in San Antonio, Texas for over 75 years and moved to Austin in 2006. After she retired, she enjoyed many family celebrations and became an avid BINGO player which was a passion she shared with her sisters.
Per Marie's request, a graveside memorial will be held at the family plot in the Masonic Cemetery in Johnson City, Texas on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. If inclement weather occurs, the service will be moved to Crofts - Crow Funeral Home, 305 E. Elm St. in Johnson City. All are asked to first meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, Marie requested that donations be made to either the Johnson City Masonic Cemetery, 290 Mountain Loop, Johnson City, TX 78636 or to the Activities Department at Stonebridge Healthcare Center located at 1111 Circle Drive, Austin, TX where she enjoyed her last few years.
