Mark Alan Adkins, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on September 2nd, 2026, at the age of 65.

Mark was, quite simply, a good man. He was the kind of man who believed in showing up for people. Generous almost to a fault, Mark was known throughout his life for giving freely of whatever he had; his time, his help, and his knowledge. If a friend needed help working cattle, had a hard day, or simply had a job that needed doing, Mark was there.

A true cowboy in every sense of the word, Mark was most at home on his horse, in his boots, outdoors, and among good friends. He was down-to-earth, hardworking, and genuine. He valued a handshake, loyalty, and doing right by people. There was nothing put-on about him. What you saw was what you got, but beneath his straightforward manner was an extraordinarily kind and giving heart.

One of the greatest testaments to the life Mark lived is the way others described him. Years ago, when friends and members of his community came together to help him through a serious illness, they described Mark as “one of the most giving personalities in the Permian Basin.” They rallied around a man who had spent so much of his own life rallying around others. It was a fitting reflection of the friendships he built and the generosity he had shown throughout his life.

Of all the roles Mark held, none was more important than family.

He leaves behind his wife, Tamara Adkins; his daughter, Jennifer Schudrowitz, and her husband, Zachary Schudrowitz; and his beloved granddaughters, Kember Schudrowitz and Alara Schudrowitz. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Kreidel, and his brother, Jeff Adkins and his wife, Terry Adkins, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Grant Lee Adkins; his mother, Sarah Marcelle Adkins; his brother, Steve Adkins; and his daughter, Kimberly Marie Adkins.

The measure of Mark’s life cannot really be captured by dates, occupations, or a list of accomplishments. It is better found in the people he helped, the friends who knew they could call him, the family who loved him, and the stories that will continue to be told about him.

He was a cowboy. He was a giver. He was a loyal friend. He was a husband, a dad, a Papaw, a brother, and an uncle. May he forever fly high, ride hard, and rest in peace.

Mark will be laid to rest in Blanco, Texas, among the hills and open skies he came to love. A graveside service will be held at Blanco Cemetery in Blanco, Texas, on Thursday, September 10, at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, family and friends will gather for a reception to share memories and celebrate Mark’s life. Arrangements are being handled by Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Mark’s memory are invited to make a memorial contribution to his selected charity.
