Obituary

Mark C Barr, a loving husband, father and friend, passed away on May 4 th , 2017 at his home in Blanco, TX surrounded by family and friends.

A memorial service honoring Mark's life will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Smith Chapel of River Bend Church, 4214 N Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78746. Immediately following, there will be a reception in the lobby of the Chapel.

Preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Jacques and Genevieve Barr.  His two brothers, Davis Nicholas Barr and Brian Barr.

Mark was born in Los Angeles, California on October 30 th , 1950 and raised in Glendale, California.  He graduated from Newport Harbor High School and went on to college at UCLA and graduated with a degree in Economics.

Mark then was Director of acquisition, marketing, and leasing of major projects in the Austin and Chicago areas during the 1980's.  His business took him to Denver, CO, Dallas, TX, and finally Austin, TX, where he started Barr Commercial Property in 1991.

Alongside of his business career, he was an avid racer.  He became active in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) for 25+ years.  The highlight of his racing career being La Carrera Panamericana in 2003, covering 2,000 miles from the southern tip of Mexico to the northern border of Texas, resulting in Mark winning his class with his good friend and navigator Jeff Gordon.

As a successful race car driver himself, Mark passed on his love for racing to his three children; his two sons Adam and Davis, and his daughter Katherine.  Today, all his children have a passion for car racing.

Ultimately, what Mark enjoyed the most was being a gentleman farmer.  His passion for building his dream home with his wife Tracy in Blanco, the completion of the barn to house their beautiful horses, dogs, cat and donkey, or just the joy he found from being on his tractor in such a beautiful part of Texas.

The Barr family wishes to thank the caregivers Tina Timme, Blue Bonnet Hospice, as well as Brandon Lee for their care in his final days.

Mark is survived by his loving wife Tracy Taft Barr and three beautiful children; Adam Christian Barr and wife Sarah, Davis Nicholas Barr, and daughter Katherine Taft Barr; and grandson, Brody Christian Barr.
