Obituary

Marvin W. "Sammy" Flugrath, 88 of Blanco passed away on Wednesday, September 6 th surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 9 th , from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco. Services will be held on Sunday, September 10 th at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco, and burial will follow with military honors in the Blanco Cemetery. Fellowship with family and friends to follow after the burial at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Sammy was born on September 28, 1928, in Blanco, Texas to Gus and Laura (Liesman) Flugrath. He was a 1946 Graduate of Blanco High School. He served our country as a U. S. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict, was wounded and honorably discharged earning a purple heart. He worked for his Dad as a Carpenter and in the Flugrath Store as well as Coke-a-Cola before graduating from Southwest Texas University with a B.S. in Chemistry. He married Gracie Wagner on March 31, 1961. Sammy worked for 27 years as a Chemist for the U. S. Geological Survey.

Sammy is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gracie, a son Cecil Wagner, and brother-in-law Monroe Dowdy.

Sammy is survived by daughters, Janice Culton and husband Rod, Pamela Nabers and Roger Evans, Laurie Parker and husband Jasen, a step-son L. J. Wagner and Martha, step-daughter-in-law Shirley Wagner, and step-daughter Helen Knoll and husband Alvin, and sister Lola Dowdy. He has seventeen grandchildren: Brandon Culton and sons Grayson and Khale, Dane Culton, Callie Isenberg and husband Sam, and Abbie Culton; Meagan Dodd and husband Tyler, Kellam Nabers, and Ethan Evans; Lainie Parker and Logan Parker; Darrell Wagner and wife Dana, Teresa Seidel and husband Darrell, and Liesa Davis and husband Travis; Craig Wagner and wife Kerry, and Karen Lohman and husband Karl; Ann Bochat, Debbie Morash, and Sonny Knoll. He has eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way.  He is also survived by a nephew Ronnie Dowdy, and niece Gail Neas as well and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
