Mary Magdalene
Huser
Mar 22, 1937 — Aug 24, 2022
Blanco
Mary Magdalene Turner Huser passed away on August 24, 2022 at the age of 85. She was born March 22, 1937 in Hondo, Texas to William Turner and Ursula Koch Turner who preceded her in death.
She married Hilary Fred Huser at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis, Texas on September 10, 1955. They lived together for 65 years until his death at age 85 on August 6, 2020.
Mary had 7 siblings, of which 6 have preceded her in death: Milton, Clarence, Leonard, William, Lorine, and Geneva. She is survived by one sister, Patricia Norwood of Beaumont.
Mary and Hilary were the loving parents of 5 children: Mitchell Huser (Barbara) of Brownwood, Kathleen Selby of Dallas, Michael Huser (Donna) of New Braunfels, Jeffrey Huser (Stacie) of San Antonio, and Jayne Ann Huser who preceded her parents in death.
Mary is survived by her 3 grandchildren: Chad Selby of Toledo, Ryan Huser (Amber) of Blanco, and Hilary "Nikki" Wilken (Jason) of Iowa City. In addition, she is survived by her 3 great-grandchildren: Issabella "Bella" Huser of Blanco, Barrett Wilken of Iowa City, and Hadley Huser of Blanco.
Mary is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary and Hilary lived on a little patch of land in Blanco, Texas since 1995, and both loved to watch the hummingbirds and cardinals, along with the wildlife that passed through their property. Hilary was great at keeping the bird feeders full and providing scraps to the wildlife so they all remained well nourished. They both volunteered at the Blanco Good Samaritan Food Pantry and Thrift Store for many years. She loved working there and made many life-long friends. As most of you know, Mary's motto was Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. As Kee from the Good Sam noted, she would mix different colors of unused paint to come up with a color not usually found in nature. Then she would proceed to paint items at Good Sam along with everything she owned. The latest color was a raspberry-ish purple-ish color.
A memorial mass for both Mary and Hilary will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 25 Main St (off 281) in Blanco at 11:00AM with lunch in the church hall to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to:
Blanco Good Samaritan Center, PO BOX 298, Blanco, TX 78606
St. Anne's Altar Society, 25 Main Street, Blanco, TX 78606
Charity of your choice
The family would like to thank Betsy, Judy, Laura, William and Theresa of Hill Country Hospice in Fredericksburg, who kept her comfortable to the end; her caregivers Polly, Joanne and Maria, who treated her with total kindness, love and respect; and a host of friends who helped take care of Mary and stopped by to visit with her (and brought food!) on a regular basis during her time of need. Special thanks go to Clara Ridenour for lovingly caring for her physically and emotionally and most of all for making her laugh. Who wouldn't want to go out laughing? You all are greatly appreciated more than you will ever know.
