Obituary

Marykaye Morgan , born in Kansas City, spent her adolescent years in Leavenworth Kansas with her parents (Keith and Rosemay Bleakly). She was an excellent student and very active in the school band (flute/piccolo).

After high school she graduated with a baccalaureate degree in English and went on to receive a master's degree from Kansas State. Upon graduation, she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship for further study in Germany. She loved the country so much, after her grant ended she secured a position at a local military base teaching English to the German workers there.

Though skilled in language arts, history and classical art, her love for music won out; prompting her to apply and receive a position with Sweet Adeline Inc. This led to her seat on the international board of directors, and an appointment as worldwide Director of Musical Activities (DMA) to assist with the development of music programs for ALL regions, encompassing 500 Sweet Adelines chapters located throughout the U.S. and 14 other countries.

During the past 30 years she was an international voice teacher, music coach, chorus director, and international Music Category  judge. She was very active in the local library and volunteered multiple days per week. Finally, in addition to her love of books, music and art, "women's and animal rights" were two of her top priorities. Any activity or support to promote greater attention to these areas of needs made Marykaye happy.

She is survived by the Husband Bill, daughter Erin and son-in-law Robert Mercantini, and her granddaughter Piper Koontz.
