Master Sergeant Steven L. Roper, loyal patriot, master engineer, builder, carpenter, and loving husband passed away in his sleep at his home in Blanco, TX April 28, 2007.Steve was born in El Paso August 17, 1955 to Col. Lee R. Roper and Eddie (Carter) Roper Arsenault and as an Army dependant lived at a variety of bases statewide and overseas. He had considered Blanco his home since his marriage to Patricia Roper in 1994.He is survived by his wife Pat of Blanco; two sons, Steven and John Wayne Hargrove of Blanco; father, Col Lee R Roper of Canyon Lake; mother, Eddie Arsenault of Grapevine; brother, Tim Roper, Niwot, CO and sister, Judy Hockenbrough of Grapevine.Steve's passion was his duty to the Air Force. He served his country, receiving many honors, during 20 years through five conflicts including Viet Nam, Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, Noble Eagle, and currently Iraqi Freedom.Steve was loved and respected by his many co-workers, friends, and family and his passing will be felt deeply.Visitation will be at Crofts Funeral Home, Blanco, TX from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday. Funeral services will be 9:30 AM Wednesday, May 2 at Chapel One at Randolph AFB . Burial will follow at 1:45 PM in Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
