Obituary

Michael William Dalland, 65, Round Mountain, TX passed away Wednesday, July 5 th , 2017

Mike was born December 6, 1951 in Fremont, NE, the son of Merle and Marian(Bedford) Dalland. He grew up throughout the Midwest, living in Nebraska, Montana, Iowa, and settling down in Owatonna, MN at the age of 11. Owatonna would be where he would call home and make lifelong friends. He excelled in sports and would be named Team Captain 5 times by his fellow teammates. He was inducted into the Owatonna High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2008, an honor he cherished.

He married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Joanne Jungbluth, in 1973 and they would remain at each other sides for the next 44 years while raising a family and living an incredible life of love.

Mike worked for and eventually owned National Tree Expert Co., Inc. for more than 50 years, working with his father, uncles, brothers, cousins, nephews, and both of his sons. In 1985 Mike and Joanne would move their family and the business to Austin, TX.  He also owned Dalland Transport and was a co-owner of Dalland Land and Cattle.

Mike raised his family in Austin, TX, retired to Horseshoe Bay, TX and eventually moved to Round Mountain, TX.  Mike and Joanne raised three children. They have five grandchildren who were the light of Mike's life. Mike was the biggest supporter of his grandkids sporting events. You would find him at barrel racing, softball, volleyball, baseball, dance, golf, basketball, and any other event the kids participated in.

Mike had a lifelong love of golf which is an activity the entire family still enjoys today. He has made many friends throughout the years on the golf course from Minnesota to Texas.  Golf was a highlight of Mike and Jo's travels throughout the years.  Mike was always the life of the party, larger than life, and many have mentioned the impact that he has had on their lives as a father figure. His humor is what drew people to him. He had an easy going, thoughtful, and dependable demeanor. You always knew what you were going to get. It usually involved a laugh and good advice. Those traits are ones that his family and friends have admired and tried to emulate.

Mike is survived by his wife, Joanne (Jungbluth) Dalland of Round Mountain, TX; mother Marian Dalland of Owatonna, MN; his children, Brian (Amy) Dalland of Round Mountain, TX, Mark (Crystal) Dalland of Blanco, TX, and Melissa Dalland of Austin, TX; his grandchildren, Kalli (15), Alyssa(15), Paige(14), Mitchell(12) and Bayleigh (9); his brothers, Gary(Max) Dalland of Owatonna, MN, Jim (Donna) Dalland of Owatonna, MN, brothers-in-law Bob (Diane) Jungbluth, John (Mary) Jungbluth, sister-in-law Carol (Steve) Gallagher. Also surviving, father-in-law and mother-in-law Bill and Mary Jungbluth of Horseshoe Bay, TX. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews will also miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Merle Dalland of Owatonna, MN and brother-in-law, Bill Jungbluth of Inver Grove Heights, MN.
