Mitchell Scott Haley was born September 13, 1956 in Johnson City, Texas, and passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 in Johnson City at the age of 56 years after a year-long battle with cancer.
Scott is survived by his companion Cheri Baird; mother, Sue Broyles and husband Ben of Meadowlakes; son Justin Haley and wife Diane of Blanco; daughter Ashley Fiero and husband Kyle of Johnson City; brothers Greg Haley and wife Annie, of Burnet and Cole Haley and wife Bambi, of New Braunfels; three granddaughters: Kamryn and Kinlee Fiero and Emma Haley; six nieces and nephews; and five great nieces and nephews.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Woodly Haley.
Scott was born and raised in Johnson City, graduating from LBJ High School in 1975. After graduation from high school, Scott worked primarily in the construction industry. Although his occupation was construction, his passion was hunting and fishing. Scott and his father spent every weekend during deer season hunting either in South Texas or West Texas. While he had a deep passion for hunting and fishing, his real love in life was his three granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday July 24, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Liberty Lighthouse Church, 321 Old River Crossing Road, in Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Seton Fund at the Shivers Cancer Center (1201 W 38th St., Austin, TX 78705) or Seton Highland Lakes Hospice (PO Box 1396, Burnet, TX 78611).
