Obituary

Nell Rose Ludolf, 86, passed away in Boerne September 4, 2006 after a bout of cancer. She was born to Richard "Windmill" Schmidt and Sophie Schlather Schmidt on November 5, 1919 on her parent's farm in Hugo, Comal County, Texas.The family moved to San Marcos in November 1925. Nell Rose graduated from San Marcos High School in May 1938. She then lived with her grandparents on their ranch in Bulverde to assist with the chores.She married Eddie Ludolf of Kendalia on December 18, 1943. They purchased a ranch in Kendalia. Eddie & Nell Rose worked the ranch together until Eddie's death in 1994.Nell Rose continued to do ranch work until shortly before her death. She appreciated the assistance she received from Neil Ludolf, Charles Rothenbach, Richard Edge, Don Ricks, Harold Treiber, and James and Meri.Nell Rose always supported the Kendalia VFD at their annual fund raiser held the Saturday when hunting season started. She kept in touch with neighbors by sharing her garden vegetables, pear & pecans with them. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco.Nell Rose is preceded in death by her husband Eddie, sister, Edith Edge, and nephew Michael Klabunde. She is survived by sisters, Eleanora Edge of Kendalia, Caroline Schiwitz of San Marcos and Mary Ann Klabunde of Bulverde. She is survived by nephews Neil Ludolf, Charles Rothenbach, Richard Edge, Milton Edge, Clifton Klabunde, Doyle Klabunde, Richard Schiwitz , John Schiwitz, Bruce Lawhon and nieces Ellen Ricks, Sylvia Horton, Wanda Edge, Lou Jackson and Brenda Bankhead.Services will be Friday, September 8, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Crofts Funeral Home in Blanco. Interment will follow in the Kneupper Cemetery in Kendalia. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
