Nita Jane Calvez, 79, of Johnson City went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 after a lengthy illness.
Nita Jane was born on August 22, 1935 in Coolidge, Texas to Jack and Essie (Brooks) East. She was a graduate of Deer Park High School and attended college for a while before working as a secretary at a chemical company. Nita Jane married Louis Calvez on August 22, 1955 and was a wonderful wife and loving mother, as well as being active in her church and community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Essie East.
Nita Jane is survived by her husband of 59 years, Louis Calvez of Johnson City; two daughters, Lori Gracey (Mark) of Bastrop and Susan Burkhart (Mark) of Taylor; a brother, Bob East of Temple; and a sister, Nelda Sanders (Glenn) of Horseshoe Bay. Her grandchildren include Jonathan, Stephen, and Daniel Lusk; Kristi Suchomel (Tony); and Casey and Emma Burkhart. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Luke, Charlie, and Graceann Suchomel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 417, Johnson City, TX 78636.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Crofts ? Crow Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Kebirn Rush officiating. A reception will follow the services at First Baptist Church.
