Ora Kneupper was born September 29, 1916, the second of five daughters to Rudolph and Erna Jonas Liesmann. God called her to her eternal home on January 3, 2017.
Ora married Alwin Kneupper June 5, 1935 and completed her family with two daughters and a son. They made their home in Twin Sisters until Marie Anna and Dorothy were born and then moved to Blanco in 1941. Together, they owned and operated Kneupper's IGA until Alwin's death in 1966. She then continued to work at the store until she retired. Ora continued living in the same house until she moved in with Marie Anna and Jerry just several years ago. Live Oak Medical Center has been her home for the past 11 months.
Ora grew up in the depression era and never threw anything away because it might be needed someday. She attended school in a one room schoolhouse in Twin Sisters. She sewed all of the girl's clothes. Ora was baptized and confirmed on the same day, August 29, 1947 by RC Albert and was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Ora was very active in church and many community activities, including Gem of the Hills. She was always ready to help family or community members in times of need. She loved going shopping with friends on the senior citizen van trips and playing 42 and Skip-Bo each month. Ora enjoyed gardening, whether it be a variety of flowers or fruits and vegetables. She always prepared wholesome meals made from scratch with fresh vegetables from her garden. Quilting, crocheting, sewing, bowling and dancing were some of her favorite pastimes.
Ora was preceded her in death by her son, Allan Ray, her husband, Alwin, her parents, Rudolph and Erna, her sisters, Melanie (Vorie, Edgar, Wiley, Lindsey), Roberta (Harold), Valeska (Milton) and Maxine, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Adolph and Helena, step mother-in-law Freida, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Emilie, Oscar, Howard, David, Lela, August, Velma, and George, and her son-in-law, Stephen Clark.
