Johnson City

Obituary

On Friday, October 26, 2018, Pauline Hancock of Johnson City entered eternal life in heaven at the age of 94.  Pauline was born August 25, 1924, on a small family farm along-side Miller Creek in Blanco County.   The youngest of 5 sisters, Pauline attended the local school and developed strong work ethics on the family farm.

Pauline married Travis "Billy" Hancock on January 5, 1952.  The newly married couple left Blanco County to start a new life in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Pauline became a parts mechanic at the Naval Air Station. Pauline and Billy worked for the naval base until Billy was transferred to California where they resided for several years.  Upon returning to Blanco County, they built a home in Johnson City where they would remain for the rest of their lives.

Pauline or "Polly" as most people refer to her, having no children of her own, shared her love by babysitting children throughout the course of her life.   Walking into her home, you will find wall after wall adorned with photos of family and kids whom she loved and cared for over the years.  Although loving, she demanded respect and was quick to let you know when you were out of line!   Polly was an amazing cook who enjoyed filling her dining table with home cooked meals for anyone who was able to come eat lunch and enjoy her amazing fresh brewed sweet tea.  Returning home from college or just in for a visit, she always made sure she had all your favorite treats and meals prepared for you to take back home.  No one was ever going to go hungry around Polly.   Pauline loved red birds and over the years filled her home with a vast collection.  Growing up with 4 sisters and working on the naval base, Pauline developed a quick wit and sharp tongue.  There was never a doubt what her opinion was or what stance she took on a topic.  Be warned, if you asked her opinion you better be tough enough to handle the truth as she saw it!   But under the tough exterior was a loving woman who enjoyed filling her home with family and friends.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Pellar and Bettie Henslee, her husband Travis "Billy" Hancock, 4 sisters, Susie Pellar, Delzie Bowles, Marie Taylor, and Anna Lou Felps.   Pauline's wit, love, and amazing cooking will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM Tuesday, October 30, 2018 followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City with Rev. Greg Steele officiating.  Pauline will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Travis U. "Billy" Hancock in Miller Creek Cemetery.
