Obituary

Rachel Sue Jones of Blanco, TX passed away July 13, 2022. She was born April 28, 1959 in Blanco to James Roland Jones and Ara Adnee (Jackson) Jones. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Stewart Jones; sisters, Brenda Monroe and Patricia City. Rachel is survived by her daughter, Brittany Ortiz, grandchildren, Braylin, Kamoree, and King, her siblings, Michael Jones, Clarence Jackson, Barbara Booe, and William City. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Rachel was always a cowgirl at heart and owned horses most of her adult life. Early on, Rachel enjoyed barrel racing. She was delighted when her granddaughter told her she wanted to learn to ride horses. She was impressed with her grandson's confidence in working cattle with his grandfather. Rachel was rarely seen driving her truck without her dog Buddy in the seat beside her.

Rachel worked in the semi-conductor industry for thirty-four years and rarely turned down the opportunity to work overtime. She was committed to her daughter and family and often said 'Everything I do is for Brittany'. Rachel was never comfortable being idle and was always busy working, riding and caring for her horses, working in her yard or visiting friends and family. Rachel watched her grandson help his grandfather at his ranch with pride and fear. Braylin opened and closed gates, rode on the tractor, fed hay and helped brush the bulls. She enjoyed playing board games with her granddaughter even though she rarely won. She loved Kamoree's self-confidence and she may have been the only person who could consistently and successfully tell Rachel what to do. She had too little time with King. She was utterly amazed with her daughter's ability to raise three happy boisterous children.

Rachel was a strong, independent woman who spoke her mind and gave her opinion freely. Rachel was a fighter in her very soul and could be no other way. She fought for her daughter, her grandchildren, for fairness and for life. She lived fully and loved her family. Rachel will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
