Richard "Steve" Felps , 79, of Tow, Texas passed away Monday, February 19, 2018, at his home. Steve was born on July 12, 1938, in Johnson City, Texas to Richard Milam Felps and Rozetta Barbara Brown Felps.
Early years of Steve's life started out in Blanco before the family moved to Waco. Steve proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps before his career as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic and supervisor. He was very proud of his accomplishments throughout his career. Being one to not let anything stand in his way, Steve successfully obtained his pilot's license, acquired his own airplane and spent many hours in the air. Steve was an avid outdoorsman. Over the course of his lifetime, he excelled in hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, gardening, horseback riding, boating, jet skiing, water skiing, snowmobiling, motor cycle riding, archery, building and flying model airplanes, golf, welding, and he was an excellent marksman. He was the go-to person for his family and friends - he could fix or build anything mechanical or otherwise. He was a mentor and a great listener as well as a great friend. He was a loving husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 36 years, Sandra Windsor Felps. Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Felps; siblings; Johnnie Felps and his wife, Treva and Shirley Jones and her husband Martin; nieces and nephews, Tena, Traci, Jason, Julie and Dana and several great nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed his times spent with Jordan, Jamie and Lindsey.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Croft-Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City. A Graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2018, at Miller Creek Cemetery in Johnson City, Texas.
Honorary Pallbearers will be, Don Sharp, Eddie Johnson, James Levasser, Jimmie Felps, Tommy Little, George Muraco, Donnie Kimmel, Leo Bradshaw, and John Scordato.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners at 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
