Obituary

Robert L. "Bob" Bindseil, 77, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home surrounded by family and friends after a long, hard battle with cancer. Bob was born on March 12, 1939 in Twin Sisters, Texas to Marvin and Ada (Erben) Bindseil. He attended school in Twin Sisters. Bob married Clara Herzing on September 27, 1955, and they settled in Blanco to raise their family.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Ada Bindseil (Fries). Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Clara Bindseil, and their four children; Robert H. "Bobby" Bindseil and wife Carol of Fredericksburg, daughters Pat Bindseil of San Antonio, Pamela Bindseil of Blanco, and Deana Pepper and husband Ladd of Blanco, and three sisters, Betty Bindseil of Temple, Marilyn Rust and husband Harvey of Spring Branch, and Karen Sachtleben and husband Jr. of Fischer, Texas, and one sister-in-law, Frances Treiber and husband Harold of Blanco. Grandchildren; Arah Campbell, Kelsey Wittkohl, Ryan Sanders, Ashley Handberry, Kyle Holmes, Jordan Handberry, Kendra Buerschinger, Jacie Handberry, and Devlin Moore, and great grandchildren, Maddi Romero, Derrick and Dylan McNett, and Collyn and Caydence Stewart, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a man of many talents and endeavors. He began working for Cage Brothers Paving before he eventually decided to start his own T.V. and appliance repair at the Bindseils' Red & White in Blanco to be closer to his growing family. Transitioning from the repair business, Bob became involved in the building and construction industry, which eventually led to the establishment of what we all came to know as Sta-Bilt. In its early years, it started out as the manufacturing of roof trusses and wall panels. With his vast knowledge, he was asked to oversee other corporations similar to Sta-Bilt, in which he shared his truss-engineering knowledge to develop their truss department as well, teaching many young men the trade. In 1985, he incorporated a hardware store, which was later called Sta-Bilt Products Inc. This small-town business led to the expansion of three more locations, which included Lakeway, Bulverde, and Johnson City. During this time, he was asked to serve on the Board of Directors of Handy Hardware Wholesale. Upon Sta-Bilt's closing in 2009, retirement was not a choice of Bob's. He continued to engineer trusses for one of the young men he trained at the beginning of his career.

Bob was active in his community by serving on City Council and Blanco Chamber of Commerce. He contributed to the community in many ways by donating to multiple organizations, such as schools, churches, children's clubs, etc. He was also an active member of St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church, in which he served on the ACTS retreat and team for many years, where he developed lifelong friends (brothers) that were at his side until the end. Bob was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman, with hunting in the mountains of Wyoming being his most beloved pastime. He also acquired a love for the PBR circuit, which he followed from state to state for many years. During those years, he had the opportunity to meet many of the bull riders and bull fighters. And let's not forget the love for his San Antonio Spurs, GO SPURS GO!

In his retirement years, Bob spent time enjoying his family, with his grandchildren being his greatest delight. He was our rock and words cannot express the great loss we feel.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church.

Pall bearers are Tom Reininger, Bill Cain, Larry Kuebel, Tim Nance, Ryan Sanders, Devlin Moore, David Treiber, and Bryan Treiber.
