On Friday, December 23rd, 2022, Roger Lynn Evans was called home at the age of 71. The world has lost a great son, brother, husband, father, and leader.

Roger was born in Blanco, Texas, on September 21, 1951, and never left. Roger graduated from Blanco High School in 1970. After high school he pursued his entrepreneur interests and built a profitable fencing company known throughout Central Texas.

If you asked Roger, his greatest accomplishment wasn't his career. It was being a father. Roger met the love of his life, Claude-Dale S. Hewitt (Mushy). They met through a friend on a blind date. It was love at first sight. After a short time, they married. The manifestation of that unit produced the light of their lives, Ethan Ray Evans. They shared nine blissful years together building an incredible life. Unfortunately, in 2001, Mushy succumbed to a tragic medical condition that took her from Roger and Ethan.

Roger was an incredible father. Anyone who observed their relationship through the tragedy could see that Roger poured his life into Ethan and his successes. Together they enjoyed Ethan's athletic career, hunting, and fishing. His proudest moments were sharing all of these with everyone he knew. He loved celebrating his son. Even when Ethan went off to college, Roger was incredibly proud. The day Ethan graduated, he continued to share every little success his son achieved. The most remarkable realization of their relationship was the fact that they were best friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife Mushy, his father Ray Evans, and mother Lela, and brother Bud Evans. He is survived by son Ethan Evans and wife Tosha of New Braunfels, sister Beth Evans of Blanco, sister Judy Evans of Blanco, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A time of fellowship will begin at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 29, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Blanco, 1200 4th St., Blanco, TX 78606, where funeral services honoring Roger will be held at 2:00 PM.  Interment will follow in the Historic Blanco Cemetery.
