Obituary

Ronnie Lee Smith , 70, of Blanco, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2019, at Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his loving family.

Ronnie was born on August 18, 1948, in Coleman, Texas to Helen Lee Myers Smith and Ernest Jackson Smith.  He was a retired U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who served his Country for twenty-fours years, including serving in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm.   After retiring from the Marine Corp Ronnie worked ten years for Lindig Trucking Company in Johnson City.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Blanco and was very active in the Girls and Boys Scout for over twenty years.  Ronnie loved watching his football games but mostly playing with the grandchildren who he loved dearly.

Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Joyce Miller Smith of Blanco; his mother, Helen Myers Smith of Blanco; children, Bonnie Lee Carter and her husband Otis of Blanco, Michael Shawn Smith and his wife, Amanda of Blanco, Tuesday Beatrice Darling of Blanco and Austin Kyle Smith and his wife, Bonnie of Blanco; sister, Marsha Fischer of South Carolina; brother, Kevin Ernest Smith of Diboll, Texas; nine grandchildren, Kaleb, Samantha, Sarah, Amber, Trent, Avery, Xander, Keegan and London.  Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Jackson Smith who passed away in 1991.

A visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019, at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco.  Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Blanco.  Military Services will be conducted at 9:45 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2019, at Fort Sam Houston Veterans Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

In lieu of flowers "Memorial Contributions" may be made to Dell's Children Hospital located at 4900 Mueller Blvd Austin, Texas 78723; St. Jude's Children's Hospital located at 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105; Eastern Star Scholarship Fund, Blanco Chapter located at 100 Antonio Perez, Blanco, TX  78606 or to a charity of your choice.
