Ruthie Farmer made her way across stormy Jordan on March 19, 2006 at the age of 80, from her home in Blanco, Texas.Ruthie was born July 19, 1925 at Mount Sharp in Hays County Texas to Charles Lee Herwig and the former Willie Bernice Finch. Ruthie had five siblings: Maggie Liesman, Prudie Wolfe, Sadie Powell, Charles Herwig, and Tommy Herwig.She married Herbert Salge in 1943.She and Herbert had four children, Wilma Katherine, Sandra Faye, Donna Loretta, and Woodrow Allan. She and Herbert subsequently divorced. She married Eugene Farmer in 1965.Ruthie's children gave her eight grandchildren: Kim Griswold, Chuck Ehrhardt, Jeff Treadwell, Mark Treadwell, Deanna Pickens, Dustin Pickens, Kristina Lively, and Woody Salge. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. She also had 23 great-grandchildren.Waiting for Ruthie on the far side banks are her parents, her children's father Herbert, her husband Gene, her brothers Charles and Tommy, and her daughter Wilma.The funeral service will be held at 2 PM, March 22, under the direction of Crofts Funeral Home of Blanco, 911 Mesquite. The service will be performed by the Rev. Jim Davis. Visitation is from 6 to 8 PM, March 21 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Miller Creek Cemetery on Highway 290 West.Special thanks from the family to Drs.
