Sandra Weirich
Danz
Aug 6, 1940 — Jul 24, 2026
Johnson City
Sandra Weirich Danz , 85, of Johnson City, Texas, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 6, 1940, at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, Sandra was a proud lifelong resident of Blanco County. She lived a life marked by unwavering faith, quiet strength, humble service, and unconditional love. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and faithful friend whose gentle spirit touched countless lives.
At 12 years of age, Sandra began playing the piano at her Methodist church. What began as a young girl's willingness to serve blossomed into a ministry that would span more than seven decades. She faithfully played for countless church services, weddings, and special occasions throughout the Texas Hill Country, using her God-given musical talents to bring comfort, joy, and worship to generations of families. Music was one of Sandra's greatest gifts, and through every note she reflected the faith that guided her entire life.
In 1957, Sandra was honored to be crowned the Blanco County Fair and Rodeo Queen, a distinction she carried with grace and humility throughout her life. The title reflected the kindness, beauty, and character that would define the remarkable woman she became.
Sandra faithfully served the citizens of Blanco County as Blanco County Treasurer before retiring. Following her retirement, she proudly continued her family's legacy by working alongside her brother in the Weirich Brothers family business.
The greatest blessing of Sandra's life was the love she shared with her beloved husband, Jay Roger Danz. Together they built a marriage that lasted 60 wonderful years, founded on faith, friendship, respect, hard work, laughter, and unwavering devotion. They were true partners in every sense of the word and rarely spent time apart. Whether working side by side, caring for family, tending their ranch, traveling throughout Texas and beyond, taking trips to their favorite casinos, or simply enjoying the quiet moments of everyday life, Jay Roger and Sandra truly did everything together. Those casino trips became treasured adventures, filled with laughter, excitement, and memories they cherished for a lifetime. Their marriage remains a beautiful example of enduring love, friendship, and commitment.
Sandra was known by everyone who loved her as a peacemaker. She possessed a gentle spirit, a compassionate heart, and an extraordinary ability to make others feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She never sought recognition for herself but quietly made the lives of others brighter through simple acts of kindness and selfless service.
Sandra found joy in God's beautiful creation. She loved walking with her devoted walking companions and proudly completed the Capitol 10,000 on many occasions. She also had an extraordinary love for animals throughout her life. She cared for horses, dogs, cats, raccoons, skunks, goats and many other animals, and for a time even had a beloved pet fox that became one of her favorite stories to tell. In her later years, her beloved cat, affectionately known as "Shitty Kitty," became a treasured companion, bringing laughter, comfort, and unconditional love during her final years.
Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Jay Roger Danz; her beloved son, David Danz; her parents, Paul Jacob Weirich and Opal Gaynell Weirich; and her brother, Ralph Noel Weirich.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith and love and is survived by her devoted daughter, Tracy Danz Corpus, and Tracy's soulmate, Joseph John ("JJ"), whose steadfast love and support meant so much to Sandra; her brother, Terry Weirich, and his wife, Connie; her daughter-in-law, Martha Danz, the widow of her beloved son David; her four grandchildren, Caitlyn Corpus (Casey), Jayme Roschetzky (Devin), Dayton Danz, and Kelly Danz; her two great-grandchildren, Maddie and Landyn; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, lifelong friends, neighbors, and all whose lives were touched by her kindness.
Sandra's family finds great comfort in knowing she did not make her final journey alone. She peacefully entered eternal life while surrounded by those she loved most. Her devoted daughter, Tracy, JJ, and her granddaughter Caitlyn remained faithfully by her side, holding her hand, praying with her, and surrounding her with love until her final breath.
Sandra's life was a beautiful testimony of Christian faith. She loved deeply, forgave freely, served humbly, and gave generously without expecting anything in return. She will forever be remembered for the beautiful hymns she played, the weddings she made even more memorable through her music, the peace she carried into every room, the wisdom she quietly shared, and the unconditional love she gave to her family, friends, church, community, and every animal fortunate enough to cross her path.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the outstanding physicians, nurses, therapists, and staff of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lakeway and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Round Rock for their exceptional medical care, compassion, and dedication throughout Sandra's journey.
With profound appreciation, the family also wishes to recognize the extraordinary team at AccentCare Hospice. A special thank you is extended to Alicia, Wilmary, Laura, and Becky, whose compassion, gentleness, professionalism, and unwavering support brought dignity, comfort, peace, and love not only to Sandra but also to her family. Your kindness during one of life's most difficult seasons will never be forgotten, and each of you will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
In keeping with Sandra's final wishes, a graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Miller Creek Cemetery. Sandra wished for a simple graveside service where family and friends could gather to celebrate her life, her faith, and the love she shared so generously. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Jay Roger Danz, where their remarkable love story continues for eternity.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Sandra's memory to perform an act of kindness, lend a helping hand to someone in need, care for an animal, play a favorite hymn on the piano, or simply spend time with those you love. These simple acts beautifully reflect the life Sandra lived and the legacy she leaves behind.
Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we rejoice in knowing Sandra has been reunited with her beloved Jay Roger, her son David, her parents, her brother Ralph and lifelong friend June Dahmann. We can almost hear the beautiful music she loved now echoing through Heaven as she sits once again at the Master's piano.
