Obituary

Stella Irene West Zieglar was called home on July 24, 2024 at the age of 93, surrounded by her loved ones.

Stella, who was also called Grandma Kitty, was a lifetime Blanco native. She was born on September 25, 1930 to Henry Hiram West and Pearl Etta Bagby West, who preceded her in death along with her loving husband, Carl Zieglar, her sisters Raye Jackson, Jewell Stewart, Hazel Price and Gloria Nance, and brothers Frank West and Arthur "Tiny" West.

Stella's love for her family and her faith guided her life and she found joy and passion in daily walks, taking trips with her family, her flowers, dancing, taking care of all kinds of cats with her husband Carl, looking at the beauty of God's world from her kitchen window over her breakfast each morning, watching her soap operas, collecting Holly Hobby, volunteering at the nursing home, cheering on her Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs, and keeping up with all the good, local, juicy gossip.

Stella is survived by her daughter Siegred Ahr, son Andy Mann and his wife Cheryl, daughter Marcella Wagner and her husband Steve Wagner, her 11 grandchildren and their spouses—Ryan Ahr, Amy & Dwayne Day, Annastasia & Trevor Winters, Joseph & Bridget Mann, Joshua & Alexandra Mann, Christina & Matthew Padron, Jordan Ahr, Jacob Wagner, A.J. & Kelli Mann, Lauren Gale, and Marissa Wagner, 19 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; and her earthly angel, Tonia Martinets

Stella retired from Pedernales Electric Cooperative in 1995 after 21 years of dedicated employment. Always a hard worker, Stella moved her way up in positions on her own merit, serving first as a waitress at a local restaurant, then as a greenhouse worker for Klepac and finally with PEC for over two decades. She was very proud of how her dedicated, hard work paid off in her retirement.

In celebration of Stella's life and legacy, viewing services will be held at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco on Thursday, August 1st from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and a memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco on Friday, August 2nd at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of these organizations and causes that Stella supported during her life: Wounded Warriors, Trinity Lutheran Church, Blanco EMS, or your local animal shelter in her memory.
