Obituary

Stephen Cecil Grigory , 85, passed away on July 30, 2023, in Bulverde, Texas. He was born on August 31, 1937, in Houston, Texas, to the late Cecil Grigory and Georgia Grigory (Coker).

Stephen was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Ernestine Grigory, his daughter, Laura Grigory, and his sister, Barbara Magdalene Grigory.

He is survived by his son, Stephen Grigory, and leaves behind a legacy cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, and many close family and friends.

Stephen graduated from Kinkaid Preparatory School in 1955 and continued academic excellence, earning a master's degree in engineering from Texas Tech in 1961. He went on to dedicate 33 years of his life to Southwest Research Institute, where he made significant contributions in his field.

Beyond his professional achievements, Stephen's spiritual journey was an essential part of his life. He was a devout Catholic, finding solace and guidance in his faith.

In his leisure time, Stephen embraced the great outdoors and the adventures it had to offer. He was especially fond of the National Parks, of which, Yellowstone was his favorite. Backpacking was his passion, and he embarked on numerous hikes through the breathtaking Weminuche Wilderness in Colorado and the rugged trails of Philmont Scout Ranch. Additionally, he found joy in exploring the pristine beauty of Alaska through many unforgettable cruises.

Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will forever live on through the memories shared and the lives he touched.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco where a Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM that evening.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 4, 2023, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 25 Main St., Blanco, TX 78606.

Interment will be held at 2:30 PM that afternoon at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 17501Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, TX 78266.
