Obituary

Timothy L. Vasquez, 59, passed at his home Friday, April 21, 2023 in Johnson City, TX. Tim was born December 28, 1963, in Austin, TX to Raymond and Mary (Luna) Vasquez.

If you know Tim, you know he is a true example of a servant leader. Tim proudly served his country with the U.S Army National Guard from 1988 to 1996 as a Medical Specialist. He started volunteering for North Blanco County EMS in 1989. For 22 years, Tim moved through the ranks and ultimately served as EMS Director for North Blanco County EMS. Tim also worked for Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services for 24 years and retired in 2021 as a Clinical Specialist.

He also participated and volunteered in numerous organizations such as The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, 4-H Shooting Education & Instructor, and as a FEMA Management Instructor. Tim believed in everyone's right to bear arms and was an NRA life member and owned a gunsmithing business called Vasquez Gun Works. He also assisted many community members in receiving their concealed handgun license as an instructor.

In his recent time as a retiree (who obviously could not sit still), Tim managed the Johnson City Christian Food Pantry as an Operations Manager. He always made sure the food pantry was open no matter the weather or holidays, making sure the community was taken care of. On his down time, you could always find Tim and Margie exploring the Hill Country Wine Trail and supporting local hospitality businesses, especially in Blanco County. You would always catch him swirling a glass of wine on a local winery patio talking about how proud he is of his kids or getting his song list ready for the next karaoke night.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Vasquez and his sister, Stella Vasquez. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Margie (Reyes) Vasquez; three children, Emily, Jenna, and Joshua Vasquez; mother, Mary Luna Vasquez; his siblings, Mary Lupe Mackey, Raymond G. Vasquez (Donna), Robert L. Vasquez (Susie), and Rose Esparza (Harry). Tim is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many dear friends.
