It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tirso Barrera-Delgado , a beloved husband, father, and friend, who departed this life on December 13, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Tirso was born on May 12, 1963, in Ciudad Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico, to Elpidio Barrera and Irma Delgado Barrera.
Tirso was a dedicated athlete during his youth, attending the Blanco Schools where he excelled in various sports. His passion for music was a defining aspect of his life, and he cherished the years spent performing alongside family members in their own band. Known for his infectious smile and unwavering positivity, Tirso enjoyed spending his leisure time fishing, tending to his home and property, and embracing the beauty of the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Crispin Barrera; sister-in-law, Guadalupe Barrera; and an infant brother, also named Crispin Barrera.
Tirso is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Josephine Barrera, and their four children: Beatrice Martinez, Isabel Barrera, Rigoberto Barrera, and Guadalupe Barrera. He is also survived by his parents, Elpidio and Irma Barrera; his siblings: Elpidio Barrera, Jr. (Janie), Jesus Barrera (Erica), Herminia Chalico (Mario, Sr.), Irma Moreno (Francisco, Sr.), Antonio Barrera (Lucy), Virginia Lopez (Ramon), Roger Barrera (Micaela), and Alfredo Barrera (Norma); numerous grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco, Texas. The Rosary service will commence at 7:00 PM that same evening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Blanco, Texas. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Tirso Barrera-Delgado will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
