Val Smith, age 83 of Blanco, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Visitation will take place on
Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco. Funeral services will occur on
Friday, May 20, 2016, 11:00 AM
at the Crofts – Crow Funeral Chapel in Blanco with burial to follow in the Blanco Cemetery, Blanco, Texas.
Val was born in Blanco, Texas on May 14, 1933 to Wayne and Letha Smith. He graduated from Blanco High School and then went on to graduate from Texas A & M University with a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture.
Val served in the army from 1955 to 1957. In his free time, he was an avid reader, enthusiastic outdoorsman, and passionate football fan. Val owned and operated Val Smith Petroleum from its very beginning till 2009. He was married to Shirley Mae Biermann on August 9, 1953 and would have celebrated 63 years this August.
Suriviors include: his wife of almost 63 years, Shirley Smith of Blanco, TX, children; Mickey Gale Lewis and husband John of Philadelphia, PA, Keith V. Smith and wife Nancy H. of Broomfield, CO, and Suzy Lee and husband Tim of Park City, UT, a brother; Kenneth Smith and wife Joyce of Granite Shoals, TX, five grandchildren; Kendall Lux and his wife Odelyn, Kaylyn, his one great granddaughter, Valery Lux, Katie Smith, Sean Lewis, and Melissa Smith. He was loved and will greatly be missed.
