Victor L. Hinze , a cherished son, husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on March 2, 2024, in Wimberley, TX. The son of Victor Augustus Hinze and Elsie Hinze, Victor was born on December 4, 1930, in Orange Grove, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sandy Kittrell, and his wife of 20 years, Barbara Hinze.

Victor is survived by his son, Keith Hinze, and wife Elyse, his daughter, Kimberly Hood, his brother Neil Hinze, his sister Patsy Loewe, as well as his grandchildren Laurel, Mia, Jake, Jessica, and Abigail. He will also be dearly missed by numerous nephews and a multitude of dear friends.

Having graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Victor went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management from Texas A&M University and later obtained a Master of Education from the University of Houston. During his time at A&M, he was a member of the Aggie Band, playing the coronet.

Prior to working as a teacher in Houston Schools for 40 years, he worked in the fishery in Yellowstone National Park.  He also spent a few years working for his brother, Neil, in the gas fields along the border in South Texas.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter, loved the outdoors and relished teaching others in the classroom and the outdoors.  Vic enjoyed telling many good stories of all the good times with his brother Neil and his sisters Sandy and Patsy, along with stories that encompassed fishing and other interesting topics.  He loved to fix things that were broken and take care of others.  During his time at Texas A&M, he was in the Core of Cadets and carried the Aggie spirit and values with him throughout his life.  He had a special place in his heart for his many nephews, his brother and sisters, as well as his companion, Linda Howard.  He served as a baseball and soccer coach, while teaching young athletes old school values, such as discipline and hard work.  He enjoyed serving his community as a volunteer at the Blanco State Park, where he taught fishing to the boy scouts and anyone else he could help reel in some happiness.  Finally, he was a lifelong learner and had an affinity for animals, whether to eat them or just as pets.  He believed in God, Country and Family and lived those beliefs until the end.  He passed away peacefully after a battle with pneumonia.

A memorial service honoring Victor's life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco, TX, followed by interment at the Blanco Cemetery.
