Virginia (“Sue”) Maxine Fuchs was born on June 2, 1940, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, to Harley and Edna Crump. Sue passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026.

Sue was a family girl through and through. She and her husband Jerry Fuchs shared 69 years and three months of marriage—and what a love affair it was. Together, Sue and Jerry lived adventures around the world, calling Italy, Sicily, and Belgium home, among many other places.

Sue held several careers over the years, but her greatest joy was always taking care of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Her entire home was a tribute to each one of them. She had a special way of making every single one feel like the most important person in the world. Sue had three children: Valerie, Randy (Kimberli), and Josh (Karen), along with twelve grandchildren—Cole (Meg), Austin (Nicky), Chad (Michelle), Jerod, Josh (Mallory), Barret (Kelsey), Trenton, Francesca (Canon), Ari, Morgan, Alex, and Katy. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Billy, Jack, June, Molly, Juliette, Adi, Myers, and Crosby. And there were many others she loved as her own, including Geri Lynn (Ed Roden) and Andrea Fastenau.

Beyond her family and friends, Sue loved being a Navy officer’s wife, hosting dinner parties and events with grace and warmth. She was incredibly creative and crafted beautiful flower arrangements. Over the years, she gave that talent freely to others, bringing beauty to weddings and other special occasions. She also loved the beach and the salt ocean air.

Sue loved her Lord and Savior deeply. She was a prayer warrior for anyone who needed prayers and a true disciple who loved her neighbor as herself. God is surely saying to her now, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Edna Crump; Jerry’s parents, Gilbert and Hattie Fuchs; her brothers, Bill and George Crump; her son-in-law, Billy Myers; and her daughter-in-law, Lecia Fuchs. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, she is survived by four siblings: Dot Fisher, Mary Higginbotham, Jan Parson, and Frank Crump. She loved Billy, Lecia, and each of her sisters and brothers dearly.

Sue also had the highest praise for Mayo Clinic. She fought a significant respiratory illness for most of her life, and she would tell anyone who listened that Mayo Clinic kept her alive for the last 25 years. She would want us to say thank you to them.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, October 2, 2026 at Crofts Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City where a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10 am. Interment will follow in Miller Creek Cemetery
