Walter Frederick Heffner Jr., age 75, went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2005. Walter was born on January 6, 1940 in Houma, Louisiana. He resided in Corpus Christi, Texas before retiring to Blanco, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Margaret (Toups) Heffner, and brother Dwight Heffner. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen Jean (Bartosh) Heffner. He is also survived by his daughters and their spouses; Margaret Bereit & husband David, Renee Powell, and Rebecca Duty & husband Andrew; 3 grandsons, Jacob & Joshua Duty and Patrick Bereit; 3 granddaughters, Madeline & Katherine Powell and Claire Bereit; 3 brothers, Dana, Gerard and Richard Heffner; 3 sisters, Dana Marie Heffner, Mary Erdelt and Tammye Kelley.
Walter was a Vietnam veteran and was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Corpus Christi and St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church in Blanco, TX. Walter participated passionately in the pro-life movement, ACTS, church choir, and managed St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco at 5:00 and holy rosary at 7:00 on Wednesday March 11, 2015. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, March 12 at 10:00 at St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church in Blanco. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors.
