Warren Ben Peper, 80, passed away October 14, 2006, at the Live Oak Nursing Home in Blanco, TX, where he had been a resident since January of this year. He was born in New York City on August 27, 1926. His highest education level was two years of college in 1944 as a chemical engineer. He then joined the Army, and served for twenty years. During his service, he was awarded many medals including the Purple Heart, Occupation Ribbon for both Japan and Korea, and the bronze star. Warren started as a Combat Infantryman being a light machine gunner serving in central Europe in 1944 through 1945. He then served in England, France, Germany, Alaska, Korea, and Japan. He retired as a Sergeant Major in 1968 as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Specialist while stationed at Fort Sam Houston. After retiring, Warren worked in San Antonio at Southwest Research. He married Evelyn Wagenfehr in 1976, and moved to Blanco, TX, and resided there until his death. He is survived by his daughters from a previous marriage, Ann Livingston of Broken Arrow, OK; Vicki Gannon (Tom), Saranac Lake, NY; Mary Moore (Mike), Eagle, CO; Dr. Katie Peper, Morristown, NJ; Jane Lewis (Gary), McAlister, OK; step daughter, Linda Dechert (John L.), Blanco; step sons, Buster Wagenfehr (Karen), Blanco; Vernon Wagenfehr (Dianne), La Veta, CO; Stewart Blackwell, College Station, TX, and many grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother John Peper of Leesburg, VA.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at the Crofts funeral home in Blanco, with Pastor Annamae Jung officiating. Burial will follow in the Blanco Cemetery. Pall Bearers are Jason Wagenfehr, Michael Dechert, Jacob Brown, Wesley Joe Dechert, Jay Gloor, and George Mercer.
