Obituary

Wayne Roger Tanner , age 97, of Bulverde, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Franklin Tanner and Maggie Mae Haley Tanner; his beloved wife, Dorothy Louise L'Armee Tanner; and his six siblings, Florine Bocksnick, Clayton Tanner, Ruth Wood, Kenneth Tanner, Claudia Pitts, and James Tanner.

He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Stoll and her husband, Bruce; his son, Steven Tanner and his wife, Cara; four grandchildren, Rolando Stoll, Jordan Dean, Gage Tanner, and Haley Tanner; six great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Elisha, Malachi, Dahlia, Noah, and Ryan; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Wayne's life was centered on faith, family, and fellowship. He shared 69 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dorothy whose companionship and faith were among the greatest blessings of his life.

He was known for his remarkable knowledge of the Scriptures and his ability to recall passages from memory, sharing encouragement and wisdom through talks, classes, and conversations. He cared deeply for his brothers and sisters in Christ and treasured the fellowship they shared.

One of Wayne's favorite hymns was A Rose Shall Bloom in the Lonely Place, a song filled with hope, joy, and God's promises for the future. That hope was never far from his thoughts. Even in his final days, he spoke of the Kingdom of God and looked forward to the day when sorrow and sighing would flee away.

Wayne lived a life marked by faith, service, and love. He leaves behind family and friends who will miss him deeply, remember him fondly, and remain forever grateful for the blessing of having known him.
