Wesley K. Smith was born and raised in Imperial Beach, California. He learned the ranching business from his grandfather Smith. He loved football and wrestling. In Wes' younger years, he loved hunting and fishing with his Dad, and traveled extensively doing that. His senior year in high school he won 'Grand Champion Steer', which sold for a record price, and that price still stands today. After high school he wanted to go into the building business with his Dad building custom homes. In 1980 the family moved to Texas and settled in Blanco, and a few years later his Dad bought a feed store in Blanco, where Wes loved working. He then opened up a full service sporting goods store where he specialized in bow hunting and taxidermy work. After a few years, his brother offered him an opportunity building steel horse facilities across the northern border from Washington State to Delaware, at which he excelled. When that ended he moved back to Blanco and opened up Lone Star Fence and Welding. In 1988 he moved to the ranch in Blanco with his Dad and Step mom, Sharon. He helped in all of his Dad's business ventures including building and remodeling custom homes until his death. He is preceded in death by his loving Mother Beatrice. He left behind his Dad Dale, his Step mom Sharon, his Sister Wendy, and his Brother Wayne along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is loved and will be missed by all who came into contact with him.
