Willie Martin Olfers , a long-time resident of Blanco, age 94, passed away on March 30, 2026, at her home with family by her side. Willie was born August 21, 1931, in Normangee, TX, to Clarence J. Martin and Pauline (Eison) Martin.
Willie moved to Blanco with her family as a young girl. She grew up in the heart of the Hill Country and was a proud graduate of the Blanco High School Class of 1949. On December 22, 1950, she married the love of her life, Leroy Olfers. They shared nearly 48 years of marriage until his passing on September 9, 1998.
Willie was a familiar face to many as the receptionist at the Blanco Hospital in the Old Courthouse. Following her time there, she dedicated 29 years of service to local children as a Teacher's Aide at Blanco Elementary School. She and Leroy were long-time members of the Blanco Methodist Church, where Willie continued to serve after retirement as an office volunteer and Vacation Bible School teacher.
Active in the local community, Willie and Leroy were lifetime members of the Blanco Bowling Club. A woman of many talents, she was also a gifted quilter and a member of the Blanco Quilters on the Square. Willie leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and service that will be deeply missed by her family and the town she called home for nearly a century.
Willie was preceded in death by her parents, her ten siblings, and her beloved husband Leroy Earl Olfers. She is survived by her son, Ken Olfers and his wife Jan, daughter, Peggy Shade, and her husband, Art; two grandchildren, Arthur J. Shade and his wife, Alyssa, Rita Olfers, and her husband, Joe Leung. Also by great-grandchildren, Holly Wren Shade and Avery Leung, many nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, April 10, 2026, at Crofts - Crow Funeral Home in Blanco, TX. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Olfers will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Blanco Cemetery.
